Q: What to do if the "silicone oil" in a silicone oil fan clutch emulsifies?
A: If silicone oil emulsifies (from water intrusion), drain the emulsified oil completely first. Flush the clutch’s internal chambers with a dedicated cleaner to remove residue, then let it dry thoroughly. Refill with new, manufacturer-specified silicone oil—never reuse emulsified oil. Finally, replace old or damaged seals (like oil seals) to prevent water from entering again, as emulsified oil loses torque transfer ability and harms the clutch.
